Krugersdorp started as a gold mining town in the late 1800s, and that history still shows in its streets. Older suburbs such as Monument, Krugersdorp North and Rant-en-Dal are full of solid brick houses with steel or wooden window frames, high ceilings and established gardens. Newer security estates like Featherbrooke sit on the edges of town, and townships such as Kagiso and Munsieville have grown alongside.
